Thesis: The Battle of Saratoga was indeed the turning point of the Revolutionary War because it resulted with the alliance with France, boosted American morale, and prevented the British from isolating the northeast colonies from the southern colonies.
Overview
The Battle of Saratoga took place in September and October of 1777, and was fought between George Washington's Continental army along with colonial militia against John Burgoyne's British, German and Tory troops. Two separate battles took place, one on September 19th at Freeman's Farm, the other on October 7th at Bemis Heights.
